The release marks a strategic pivot: DeepSeek is moving beyond large language models to build «foundational digital scaffolding for AI agents». Unlike conventional toolkits, Harness gives developers explicit control over how the agent thinks and acts: each core element is a modular plug-in that can be swapped or combined. It ships with four operational settings — a standard mode for general tasks, a code-focused mode that commands multiple applications simultaneously, a creative mode for experimenting with custom tools, and a minimal mode for isolated testing.
